Upon completing my final online course at Full Sail University, my initials goals were to: utilize everything learned into a study on one subject; complete a research paper with little to no errors or mistakes to demonstrate improved writing skills; and to begin applying for entry-level jobs in the journalism field. The subject I chose to complete my multimedia project on was coronavirus and its effects in Maryland. I also have already began applying for internships and entry-level positions and was granted a wonderful opportunity as a writer for an up and coming news site.
Completing this final course and thesis paper has strengthened my writing skills by allowing me to break up the entire paper into sections. By doing so, I was able to focus solely on each subheading individually instead of viewing the paper altogether as I normally would. Splitting the subheadings up into each week’s assignment was very beneficial especially because each week came with guidelines and examples to improve your writing and dive deeper into your chosen subject. With each passing week, I feel as though my writing was strengthening especially because my grades were getting higher, with more kudos from my instructor.
I will use the skills and feedback from my instructors both professionally and personally as I enter the journalism field as my career. I plan to revisit my work/feedback during my internship as a new writer so that I can improve over time. Conducting the introduction for the follow up story made me want to personally continue following the trends of the coronavirus as they relate to my hometown. Not only am I happy that I could create a multimedia project to help educate and aware those around me, but I am proud of my work and time spent studying and earning my master’s degree from Full Sail University.
