After attending the open to the public event, Made in Maryland Expo, I was exposed to so many different entrepreneurs and their talents. As a Maryland resident, I found it very interesting that there are so many people that can create things such as authentic leather purses, natural products, wine glasses, liquor/wine, MD based foods, home décor, hats, wallets, etc. This expo was located in Howard County, MD and brought major attention to small local businesses. Each vendor also had business cards and further information in case someone wanted to inquire further about a product or service.
I actually purchased a few items from this expo, which were 2 wine glasses and a coaster custom made by a woman named Erin Dayhaw. When I inquired about why she decided to pursue designing and creating custom made wine glasses and cups she replies, “it’s just something cute and simple that I love to do. I also really love wine and thought why not have something really cute to drink it out of?”
The expo also had live entertainment with a live band performing for the people in attendance. One of the best aspects of the expo was that everything was local and if I wanted to further inquire about any products, they were all home based in Maryland. I also like that this event gave exposure to small business owners. There were children’s authors on sight which let me know that this expo catered to all ages and genders.
