During the COVID-19 pandemic, many employees have been laid off from their jobs or are experiencing financial hardships, while others are considered essential and must show up to work as normal during this crisis.  Tre’ Henderson, an Associate Scientist from Millipore Sigma discusses how he feels about working during the pandemic and putting his health at risk as well as contributing to finding a cure.

According to Maryland.gov, the coronavirus is vastly spreading within the state of Maryland, so many employees depending on their jobs are considered essential and important.  Henderson also lets us know that he works alongside a virus production team that works nonstop to find answers to this fast-growing virus.  These employees, such as Henderson were given official letters stating that they are essential employees due to police arrests for those that defy the coronavirus shutdown rules.  Essentially, the note is needed in case someone gets stopped that was needed into work.

Tre’ Henderson explains how he definitely feels tired due to working very long hours to make up for missing employees due to COVID-19, however he is nonetheless grateful and passionate about what he does for a living.  He also understands that he is simply doing the job he was hired to do and does not mind going the extra mile.

We all know that this is a contagious virus and Henderson is aware that he is in a position where he can contract it.  However, he states that although it is risky to be out and about everyday, he takes the correct precautions to avoid spreading the virus to others.  Ultimately, Henderson sees the bigger picture and understands that he is an essential part in the process of eliminating the coronavirus for all.
